If you are a United States person, who maintains one or more foreign accounts, and the aggregate value of those accounts exceeded $10,000 at any time during the year, you may be required to report those accounts to the IRS. The due date for reporting foreign accounts is June 30th. The penalties for failing to report a foreign account include steep fines and possible criminal prosecution.
